navigating winter

i got snow in my shoe -

it is tickling cold/

my ankle got the brunt of it

socks soggy and skin turning blue -

this Arctic invasion is getting old/

it is day six of an Austin

snow storm

mixed in with a mix

of rain turned to sleet

thinking to watch for black ice

then ruts of old walking paths

man this is tough to beat;

i slipped walking down the hill and

and slid a foot or three

then fell forward coming up one down two

landed on all fours banging my knee

this navigating winter is something new;

i got some snow

up my nose/

when i fell off the high drift

stood up there like i was in grade school

striking a pose/

acting like a fool;

it is a Wisconsin

snow storm in Texas

and we do not know what to do

so it is pray for summer sooner

then we ought cuz this winter is something new.
